About us

Andrea Guerini Rocco – President

A third year BSc Management Italian-Colombian student, I am originally from Crema. I have nearly two years of experience in the Oil and Gas industry, and I have also taken part in a research project on Italian SMEs at Bocconi Univerisity . My interests include, but are not limited to, economics, opera, skiing and my Ducati Monster 695. Over the past ten years the Italian Society has become a point of reference for the wider Italian community in London, always being at the heart of the current economic, political and social debate. I am profoundly honoured to serve as the President, and prepared to uphold the high standard my predecessors have set. I look forward to the journey ahead of us.

Orsola Torrisi – General Secretary

I am a Ph.D. candidate in Demography from Milan, but I also lived in the US, Lebanon and Paris for some time. Before joining the LSE, I studied Political Economy just across the road at King’s College London. During my academic career in London, I have always been very much involved with the Italian community in trying to enhance the appreciation of the multifaceted Italian culture and create intercultural exchanges. Passionate about politics, avid traveller and fencer, I fervently believe in the diplomatic and unifying power of sport!

Luca Stecca – Events Officer

My name is Luca and I am from Rimini, even though for academic and professional reasons I also lived in Bologna, Rome and Milan. I am a qualified lawyer with experience in the white-collar crime field gained at a major international law firm. Before joining the London School of Economics I had the opportunity to increase my cross-border practice with a secondment to the litigation and investigations team of a leading UK financial institution. To build on these experiences and give yet a more international angle to my career, I am now pursuing an LL.M at the London School of Economics with a view to specialising in Banking Law and Financial Regulation. The LSE Italian Society is a vibrant and intellectually stimulating environment, committed to the organisation of cultural, political and social events that enrich and intellectually stimulate the LSE student community. As event officer I will do my best to continue and foster the Society’s outstanding reputation.

Rita Deliperi – Events Officer

Born and raised in Sardinia, I am currently attending a Master of Science in International Migration and Public Policy. I joined the LSE after graduating in International Relations at King’s College London last year. Since the beginning of my academic experience, I have had the pleasure to engage in various initiatives aimed at giving tribute to Italian culture and traditions abroad. Curious traveller and street wonderer, I love art in all its forms.

MacCauley Pugh – Treasurer

I am currently getting my MSc in Comparative Politics with a specialisation in Ethnic and Nationalist Politics here at the LSE. Originally from the Seattle area, I received my Bachelor’s from University College Dublin in Ireland. My passion for Italy largely spawns from living in Naples and doing a year long Erasmus in Macerata in Le Marche. I am very interested in sports: I like to watch Soccer and American Football and I have run multiple 10Ks, Half Marathons and Marathons. I am also passionate about politics.

Antine Milia – Socials Officer

My name is Antine Milia and I am a graduate student in Public Management and Governance. I was born and grew up in Sardinia, Italy. After attending the United World College of the Adriatic between 2011 and 2013, I moved to the UK to pursue a BA in European Politics at King’s College London, from which I recently graduated. For my undergraduate dissertation I focused on an assessment of the new Italian electoral law vis-à-vis the criteria of governability and representation through its application to previous elections in 2008 and 2013 – this is just to prove to you that I am quite passionate about Italian politics. I speak English, French, and Italian. I also started learning Russian last fall. The Royal Opera House and the Aquatics Centre are two of my favourite venues in London. I am thrilled to have joined the LSESU Italian Society Committee and you can rest assured that I will do my best to make sure we enjoy to-be-remembered cultural events along with some semi-serious fun!
