I Doc Italy Series – Bring the Sun Home by Chiara Andrich & Giovanni Pellegrini

The Italian Society is delighted to invite you on behalf of the Italian Cultural Institute in London to the screening of

Bring the Sun Home – From South America to India to become solar engineers

Tuesday, May 20 2014 – 6.30PM – Italian Cultural Institute (39 Belgrave Square, London SW1X 8NX)

The heart of this documentary is the training for a group of women of South America sent to the Barefoot College of Tilonia in India, to become solar engineers. The College, founded by Bunker Roy, is supported by Enel Green Power in order to bring solar energy to the most isolated rural villages of Central and South America.

Some women attending the program in India are illiterate, they do not speak English and they cannot communicate with each other. It seems impossible they can succeed in installing solar panels. At the same time in southern Peru and northern Chile, on the other side of the world, other women, just came back from India, are “bringing the sun home”.

You may watch the trailer here.

The screening will be followed by Q&A with the directors Chiara Andrich & Giovanni Pellegrini and drinks.

The event is free and open to the public, though registration is required at the following link: http://www.icilondon.esteri.it/IIC_Londra/webform/PrenotaEvento.aspx?id=1257&lingua=2
